ABOUT PRO ATHLETES

Who We Are
Pro Athletes in Recovery (Pro AIR) is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2013 by NFL veteran Randy Grimes and his wife, Lydia. Read our story here.
Our Mission Statement
We provide people with the necessary tools to overcome addiction and navigate the process of recovery in order to live healthy and productive lives, while also supporting family members, providing resources, sharing best practices, and working within our communities to remove the stigma surrounding addiction.
Our Primary Focus
We are professional athletes who have recovered together. Our primary focus includes work in the following three areas: prevention, education and intervention. We have a passion for helping fellow athletes and others break the cycle of addiction. We are also committed to their families and educating and empowering our communities, employers, schools, colleges, law enforcement, court system, and other organizations to end an epidemic that kills approximately 200 people a day in the U.S.
Pro AIR Mentorship Program
Professional athletes who are in active recovery are invited to participate in our Pro AIR Mentorship Program to serve as a mentor for people who are just beginning their recovery journey. If you’d like to join our Mentorship Program, please contact us here.
What We Care ABOUT

Teamwork
Recovery and teamwork go hand in hand. We understand the need for consistently supporting one another.

Compassion
Our organization understands that addiction or self-defeating behaviors are healthcare issues, not moral ones.

Stewardship
All charitable dollars support our core mission and values, which include prevention, education and intervention.

Advocacy
Pro AIR collaborates with external organizations to maximize available resources for those we serve.

Mind, Body, Spirit
As athletes, we know that the best way for us to succeed is to focus on all aspects of the mind, body and spirit.

Education
We offer prevention and intervention programs to schools, colleges, LE, treatment centers, and communities.
